"'Give your evidence,' said the King, 'and don't be nervous, or I'll have you executed on the spot.'" page 94

(C) People need to give evidence when they need to prove something. It shows that it is a true statement. If there is evidence, there is proof, and it means that something is true. (P) I think the Hatter will say all the truth because he doesn't want to be killed. (R) Basically, the king asked the Hatter to give evidence that shows that he didn't write the letter. He can't be nervous because if he is, he will be executed. So, the Hatter has to tell him the evidene if he doesn't want to die. (E) The author shows how it is important for the King to find out who it was because he is being very harsh.

"Imagine her surprise, when the White Rabbit read out, at the top of his shrill little voice, the name "Alice!" page 97

(Q) I wonder what Alice will have to say? I wonder if they will do anything to her? (P) I think Alice will give them very important and useful information. (R) They are just waiting for the White Rabbit to call the third witness which is Alice. Alice feels eager to get called by the White Rabbit. Alice feels like that because she is by the rabbit and the White Rabbit was the one who basically got her into all of that.
